I'm very desirous to get involved in a living branch of the Body of Christ.

However, due to my husband's work and our passion for adventure, we don't tend to stay in a single location for very long. Typically a couple of years in one city.

I'm wondering if anyone has any thoughts on how to connect with Christians when you are not rooted in one place?

I should probably clarify: We are not interested in "settling down" at this time. We have a burning desire to explore the world while we are still young. So moving around is not really a negative thing for us, except that it is difficult for us as fairly introverted people to form relationships before we move on again.

Anyway, just looking to see if anybody has insight on this. Thanks!

HI Gloria, you have a great opportunity as a adventurist traveler. Live the life of a missionary knowing that your stays are short and seek out those you can encourage in the walk of life. Seek the Holy Spirit on how you can live a prepared life in your traveling calling. it seams to me that you and your husband love to get to different places because it increases your perspective in life use this to minister Gods love.

We too travel and minister from place to place and it is such a blessing as you never know how long we will be in an area.
This website is also a great place to be an encourager and i am blessed you have joined us and i look forward to knowing you and your husband.
Thank you, that was encouraging and helpful. : )
Many of the apostles were itinerant. Your travels have prepared you for a mission that Father God has prepared before you. Wherever you are placed, it shall be for those who are being displaced. Your experiences have shown you how to travel and to where. It shall be a short time in coming that you will run into Christians who the Lord has brought to you. At that time, you will discover the true meaning of fellowship in Christ Jesus. It won't be as you imagine it, nor will the circumstances be. You shall meet others with the gifts you are lacking and together others will be blessed. Prepare your hearts, for the time is short, even at the door posts.
Perhaps my expectations have been "off" I am looking at the way Christians like the people here talk, think, act, and fellowship, but I am starting to wonder if perhaps I am getting too narrow a view. Perhaps there is room in the body for many different styles and relationships and ways of caring for one another. Maybe as long as we are seeking God He will bless us even if we do not have relationships that "look the same" as the ones other Christians have. : )
Dear Gloria,

It takes time to establish relationships that mean anything. If your passion is to see the world, then you probably won't be able to experience a deep relationship as part of an organic church community. If your passion is to know Jesus Christ and experience Him with others, it will cost you everything, but He is sooo much more that anything this world has to offer.

If you are going to keep moving, you can still share your faith and will undoubtably meet many other christians doing interesting things. But what I would advise is that you find an organic community to become a part of by moving to a location where there is such, and stay there for some time and become a functioning, seasoned member of the local Body of Christ. Then, with your life committed fully to Him, you will be in for the greatest adventure. There's no telling where He might send you!

God bless you.
