Hello Everyone--
My husband and I just returned from the Organic Church Conference in Orlando. If there is a group in the Naperville area that is already meeting, we would love to join you. If any of you live in or near Naperville and are interested in starting a group, we'd love to hear from you. And if you've had any experience with getting a group started, we'd love to hear your ideas and suggestions. (No point in re-inventing the wheel, right?) Thanks in advance, and we're looking forward to connecting with you.

I was just wondering if you've tried simplechurch.com? There may be more Chicago area folks on there. My family and I live in Sw lower MI probably 2 hrs from Chicago. We are hoping to be apart of an organic group here. It's been kinda slow going for us. God's working on us in the process. I really wanted to go to the Orlando event. It didn't work out financially for us to go. I hope you guys get connected with others in your area. God bless.
I moved form Atlanta to Wheaton 3 days ago and left my little home gathering we had down there - I would love to get together at some point if you guys are up to it!
My cell is 404-447-2331...I look forward to hearing from you!
Amanda, that's fabulous! Wheaton is just the next town north of Naperville. I'm pretty busy today shuttling my kids around to doctors' appointments & so forth before they start school tomorrow (Wed.), so maybe we can connect later this week. I'm at 630-717-5393 (home) or 630-476-8652 (cell). Welcome to Illinois, and please let me know if there's any way I can help you get acclimated to your new home.

Carie, you are most welcome to join us! We meet on Sundays from 3-6 p.m., usually at our home in Naperville. We're passionate about recovering true every-member functioning, consensus leadership, and not allowing peripheral issues to divide. If you'd like to pay us a visit, just give me a call at 630-717-5393 (home) or 630-476-8652 (cell) and I can give you directions.
Hey, Carie! I was just paging through some old emails and noticed that we never managed to connect. We're still meeting and we'd still love to have you join us sometime. You can reach me at 630-717-5393 (h) or 630-476-8652 (c) if you're interested. Vickie
Just wondering if you all are still out there and that you are the "organic" type. I'm finding more and more organics gone institutional...which is not what I'm looking for. I'm trying to find an organic church to check out. I'm about 2 and a half hours away from Naperville. My wife and I would love to experience this first hand.
Hi Matt-yes, we're still meeting, and yes, we're organic. I know what you mean...the last house church we were a part of was really just a tiny little institutional church that happened to meet in a home. We're passionate about true every-member functioning, non-hierarchical leadership, and not allowing non-essential doctrinal matters to sidetrack or divide. We've been alternating back & forth between our home & the home of the church planter we've been working with (he & his family live in Plainfield near Rte 59 & 135th St.). I also can put you in touch with some folks up north, if that's closer for you.
Great to hear from you!

I'm in the Quad Cities (Moline) and so far it's not been easy to find anything organic. Of course, I'm new to searching and may be missing things. I keep checking websites and what they consider organic...well...it isn't organic. I especially love it when they say they are organic and that it's lead by Pastor So and So. So far you all are the closest I've found. In your meandering, have you heard of anything this way?
Unfortunately, no. I was hoping you were far north or far south, because I do know people I could connect you with in both those directions. :( Are you on Facebook? I've connected with lots of like-minded folks there. Most are not local, but you might meet somebody who's a friend-of-a-friend. That's what happened with us. I found folks by messaging everyone in the Chicago area in the "From Eternity to Here" group on Facebook. Kind of tedious, but it worked! Some of our folks have been using meetup.com to find people. You might also check housechurchresource.org.
I'm trying to look up "From Eternity..." on FB. With all the FB changes, I'm not having any luck finding the group. Any suggestions on how to find it? :)
Here's a link: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=76903743708
If that doesn't work, friend me on FB and then I can invite you to join, or you can click on it on my profile page. In fact, why don't you friend me anyway? Maybe some of my organic friends might know somebody in your neck of the woods.
I don't know if you got my message my name Keith and I live in Lynchburg ,va..Iike this saying I make tshirts when I can afford can I use this? I am not try to get rich I want to get the truth out.

Michael, my experiences with such groups for more than 20 years now is pretty much the same. Some of them broke up over childish things, such as fleshly disputes, others because they wanted that "religious fix" like spiritual junkies…
Malcolm, I agree with Elaine that this succinct presentation is very helpful. Thank you. The one matter of baptism(s) has been an issue that has occasioned the setting of God's children against one another for almost 2000 years, with such…
A few weeks back I shared a book review with all of you as I felt it was worthy of your reading. This week I find myself doing the same thing again. You are probably wondering if I have suddenly become a “book reviewer” which of course is not the case at all. In fact quite the contrary. The thing is that for the first time in a very long time I have picked up two books that have really impressed something new in my heart. Not necessarily because the topic was new but more so because of the way…See More
Great story, Michael -- and a good analogy. Two options: contriving a sense of safety/ control or trusting the God who reveals. One is an illusion; the other is life.
I know I'm responding to myself, but I had idea. I like stories; sometimes they teach us about ourselves. A couple of weeks ago I needed some engine work done on an old Chevy. Tired of paying a mechanic…
