Organic Church Today

Greetings,

I am in need of help and suggestions.

About 2 years ago, I began on a journey that eventually changed just about everything I thought I knew about church and Christianity. I now find myself (to use Frank Viola's term) in the wilderness. I am no longer content to go through the motions in institutional meetings. The reason that I need help is because there are, to my knowledge, no organic groups of believers in the Northern Colorado area. Moving is not really an option. And, my wife is not ready to leave institutional church. She says that she would be willing to consider organic meetings if there were any in my area.

So, does anyone have any ideas on what I can do to survive what appears will be an extended stay in the wilderness?

Hi, Tim. I'd offer the view that wilderness is a good place. One of God's specialties is to meet His people there. Even just a quick flip through the pages of scripture nails the point. Be encouraged to consider the possibility that some time there might be where significant God-connection might happen. Maybe consider asking Him how He wants to meet you, what He wants to possess? Maybe embrace what you're tempted to fight a bit?

Another offering: Some time ago, I wrote a blog entitled "What do we do when there is no group to join?" It's still on my page. Might shift the paradigm a bit. There's more than one way of "finding a group"! There's actually a group everywhere we live! God will let you know who they are, and equip you to round them up. Be patient and deliberate.

Blessings

Don't Limit Opportunities

I want to start out by saying how thankful I am for OCT and the people who support and encourage so consistently. I am still learning my way around the site. I check the site every day for new stuff. I am surprised when I see that a lot of times I am the only one online.Wasn't really sure what to title this because I have a couple of things on my mind. Been really praying about what God wants me to do. Sometimes can get frustrated wanting to do something so big for God. But I have realized as I…See More

Leaving it behind

Hello Brothers and Sisters,This week I come to you from the top of the Arbel mountain where Jesus prayed after feeding the 5000. On my way down I stumbled with the view of a small town which is the place someone well known came from. Someone whom discovered in her journey something many of us know in our minds but not necessarily in our hearts.I hope it adds to your ammunition pack for the journey ahead of you!Travel WellPablo…See More
