I was rolling with laughter at your story. That sounds so African, brother! I thought that was in some village in Kenya. This reminds me that human beings have the same mannerisms all over the world. In Africa, your neighbour would be called a witch. And I am thinking indeed he had the blood of a witch in him. People with this influence are used by demons to torment their neighbours or anybody who is targeted by the enemy.
It is so unfortunate if such a person accidentally happens to be a boss, sitting under some people in a place of work. When I was a high school teacher, I worked under a principal who had such a spirit. He used to kill my cats. He would turn off water so that my tap is dry as other teachers get water. Twice he claimed that he saw me jumping through the classroom window at night. He would cut off power from the main switch and lock the power room and drive off and be gone for days. Twice I found a flying toilet splattered at my back window (a flying toilet is human faeces in a nylon bag thrown from a distance. It is common in slum areas where there are no toilets, and many people use a nylon bag and one flies it up in the night). He would look for opportunities to pull me down. When my subject did well, (history), he said, “That is an easy subject.” I had been drugged in Uganda while I was on a church planting mission and the effects of the drug had made me sleepy all the time. He called me a “sleeping dodo” in front of students.
You seem to have done well with your neighbour finally. I failed terribly. I was not able to overcome evil with good as Paul admonishes us. I was frustrated and angry. He almost replaced Satan, and every time the devil was mentioned I thought about him. When I asked for a transfer, he went and blocked it. When I went to his office to find out why he had blocked me given that we were not in good terms, he told me that according to him he was in good terms with me, and didn’t know what I was talking about. He asked me to be ‘humble’ and all would be well. But no matter how much I tried, he would never be satisfied. Finally, I went to the teachers’ service commission and presented my resignation letter. A lady listened to my story and suggested that instead of resigning I ask for a study leave. Granted, I went back to school to take my properties. When I presented a clearance template for him to clear me, he refused to sign it. So I left anyway, but not without him checking through my belongings and finally claiming that I had stolen school books. I was later made to pay 10,000 shillings (US$130) for ‘stolen school property’.
After my departure, students wanted to know why so and he claimed I was inciting them, saying that he had seen me in the dormitory at night planning to burn the school with some students. In fact he had the audacity of rounding up some students to testify that I had indeed been there and tried to use them to burn the school. Thank God for that judge. He grilled the students and found out the truth that I had been framed. I left that court house that was so full and walked into freedom from that man. The Lord teaches us to forgive. I still don’t know if I forgave him.
