I've become quite accustomed to the pro-required-tithing campers showing up in my camp at odd intervals throughout my life.
Being an avid forum participant all over the internet, I was asked why I don't tithe, knowing full well what's written in Malachi.
I answered the Malachi battering ram by pointing out that Malachi was addressing a people who were still under the lawful requirement to tithe, which is also true of the comments Jesus made. He too was addressing people who were still under the Law at the time.
I also countered with a question none of them were able to answer with legitimate exegesis. I asked, "Can you show me where the Law ever defined the tithe as being inclusive of a tenth of the wages from wage earners?"
Apart from the usual falsehoods perpetrated by the pro-required-tithing gangs, the silence only made my tinnitus more noticeable.

And I like the cartoon too, it made me laugh!
We've been set free from all the law as CHRIST is the end of the law. Romans 10:4
An elderly fairly orthodox Jewish sales rep of ours and good friend who knew we didn't tithe, but asked us
why the Christians tithe, when the jews themselves didn't?
If JESUS is our offering (like your cartoon says) and the scriptures reveal, then can anything less be acceptable?
It is through that divine will that we have been set free from sin, through the offering of Jesus Christ as our sacrifice once for all. Hebrews 10:10
Makes me think of the word so easily thrown around as "offering" in a truer light.
HE is our tithe and offering!

1 Cor. 16 tells the churches of Galatia and Corinth to "lay by himself to store up as he may prosper" It tells the other churches and by extension it tells 21st century churches nothing more than giving an example of how to go about getting goods together to relieve needy saints in another city. Unfortunately today the sunday contribution has turned into nothing more than a fund raising activity to pay for these monstrosities of organizations called "churches". The church I was a member of for 10 years spent more on their building and maintenance and class materials than on benevolence. Somehow a special collection every few years to relieve saints in Zimbabwe was enough to convince many that they actually were using the money to relieve needy saints. All the while taking support from other churches to pay the preacher. What a joke. "Tithing" isn't even mentioned in the New Testament but 2 times and they are proceeding by "woes" from Jesus to the hypocrites.
