Tonight (Mon, May 25) Global is airing "Hip to be Holy" about church in Canada at 10:00 ET. Might be interesting . . . or might not be. LOL

Mark, yes it was in interesting program but at the same time it only highlighted 2 leaders Carey and Nate. That was disappointing. From what I saw of that church in the theatre, they don't seem to be any different from any other "church".

Ron, you asked earlier if I was going to the meetings with Frank Viola in June (this weekend, actually). Yes, I AM GOING NOW! Just trying to figure out where to stay on Friday night, or if I should just come back home home (about 2 hours drive).

Anyone else going?

Hey Everyone, I have met some of you before and others I recognize your names. It is great to see the people God is calling to the Harvest in Canada. I look forward to getting to know each of you better.

Hi Canadians,

Good to know you are all here. Was noticing that your posts are now all that new. Are you guys awake or what . Just kidding. I have been a member of Organic Church Today since last fall but have just been watching and learning. So just wondering how things are going here in the North. Did anyone attend the meeting with Jon Zens in Calgary a few weeks ago. ? Would love to know who you are. Calgary is my home town but haven't been back there for years.

I am part of the church that flew Jon Zens in to visit us......how on earth did you know about that??

Leah Hope Comment by Leah Hope on May 21, 2011 at 12:36am
Hi Kieren,
So glad to hear from you. I stilll think of my self as a Calgarian even though it has been almost 27 years since we left . We still have some family and dear friends there. And always looking for a good excuse to jump on westjet and come home. ..
Q and A
Q: How on earth did you know...
A: I was chatting with Jon via email and asked him if he would consider coming to Canada to which he answered that he had just been in Calgary.
Would love to chat with you more
God bless all your comings and goings
Leah

Q: " how on earth did you know" That made me smile. A: I was emailing Jon and asking him if he ever came to Canada because I had heard some other speaker complain that the boarder was really frustrating for them. Anyway, he said yes and that he had just been in Calgary.

so what woud like to know!!!!????

where in BC are you? and how long have you been 'organic'? with how many of you?

Steven MacCuaig Comment by Steven MacCuaig on June 4, 2011 at 6:55pm
I am new to this group but find there seems to be a willingness from Canadians to embrace more organic forms of the church today.  Do you agree?  Disagree?  I would like to hear what you think, while you drink a "Timmy's", maple syrup or some other "Canadian" beverage, eh?

I don't know of any books off the top of my head, but I know they're out there. One place to start is the following link: Tithing Article I'll find some more resources to share with you as time allows. DM

Very interesting.  If you know of some book or material that dives a little deeper into the subject, I would appreciate it.  Send my a message if you know of anything.

I just uploaded a song called "Be Still My Soul" on my page that I re-mastered, re-instrumented, added effects, and made a simple midi file sound fantastic. Enjoy

Michael, I certainly understand what you're saying. Very few ministers ever speak the TRUTH about the tithe. In OT times, the tithe was the inheritance of the Levites who were not allowed to make a living by any means as was common among the…

I have seen a lot of sermons on the tithing, or giving; some of them very strange.  I remember some time a go when my adult daughter was a teen, and going through a very difficult time, was being hauled off in a police car. We called the pastor…

yes, Quite true. "Doing Church" in house with out the Organic content, is just switching buildings.  We as people tend to compartmentalize areas of our life. Church in this part, school in this part, marriage in this part,…

Amen to that.   It's also of interes that those who had, for example, only nine lambs or calves born in a year, they were not required to hand over anything.   One thing I will say is that I thoroughly appreciate the OT system of…

You're so right, Darrell!  Many of the house churches I'm familiar with are not organic expressions of church but are really just institutional church in miniature.  As Frank Viola says, organic church (OC) is one of the most…

Michael Hartson commented on Jim London's blog post 'What do we do when there is no group to join?'
When I think about the most significant points in my Christian walk, they did not take place in an organized, institutionalized environment.  It was incidental to my world, but wholly intentional by God.

Michael Hartson replied to Michael Hartson's discussion 'Why Can't Christian's Hang Out?'
Sure, it's intentional.  God is responsible for the Results, we are responsible for the action.  God asks us to share our lives, talk to others about him, love others.  Who gets saved, or what a person does or does not do or what…

Michael, you are sharing and asking about something that is very crucial. Often the pattern is "We don't want to be that programmed meeting all designed and led by the fellow hired to make it all run smoothly. We want to be more…
