Hi Everyone--
We're looking to join or start an organic meeting in the Western Chicago Suburbs (Naperville-Lisle-Wheaton area). Please get in touch with me if you're interested.

Hello, fellow Illinoisans!

We live on Chicago's North Shore near Old Orchard Shopping Center and would love to develop an organic community in our area. Please let us know if you're interested!

Hello to all. It looks like no one has posted here in awhile! We're new, but are interested and joining a local organic church. Also willing to meet in our home in Plainfield. We're contacting others, and if you're interested feel free to contact us! We are sincerely seeking like-minded Christians for felllowship.

So far, we have not heard from anyone in the northern Chicago suburbs--please don't tell us nobody out there is interested! Given the popularity of Frank Viola's books (etc.), this is difficult to believe. Please let us know if you have or would like to start an organic group. We are working on getting our home ready so we can host one ourselves by this time in 2011.

Hello! We live in Cortland, Il (near Dekalb) and have been meeting for a few years and one of the brothers lives in Aurora. Just found out about this site, and the organic Illinois group page here, and was wondering if those who posted here earlier are still looking to join a group in Illinois. Naperville, Plainfield is not too far away, and one of the brothers who meets with us lives in the Aurora/Naperville area.

Hi Sandor!  Thanks for getting in touch.  I recognize your name from being friends with Brent on Facebook.  He and I met at a conference here in Naperville a couple of years ago and we've stayed in touch via FB since then.  My husband and I had been working with a church planter for a while, but didn't manage to achieve a critical mass within a reasonable distance by the time he felt called to another work.  We had started out with a 75 mile distance between the families farthest away from each other.  We multiplied into two groups, but we were still as far as 45 miles away from each other and it was just unsustainable.  So right now we're focusing on trying to make more personal connections in our community and see what doors God will open.  I'd be interested in hearing more about what's going on in your group.

I don't know of any books off the top of my head, but I know they're out there. One place to start is the following link: Tithing Article I'll find some more resources to share with you as time allows. DM

Very interesting.  If you know of some book or material that dives a little deeper into the subject, I would appreciate it.  Send my a message if you know of anything.

I just uploaded a song called "Be Still My Soul" on my page that I re-mastered, re-instrumented, added effects, and made a simple midi file sound fantastic. Enjoy

Michael, I certainly understand what you're saying. Very few ministers ever speak the TRUTH about the tithe. In OT times, the tithe was the inheritance of the Levites who were not allowed to make a living by any means as was common among the…

I have seen a lot of sermons on the tithing, or giving; some of them very strange.  I remember some time a go when my adult daughter was a teen, and going through a very difficult time, was being hauled off in a police car. We called the pastor…

yes, Quite true. "Doing Church" in house with out the Organic content, is just switching buildings.  We as people tend to compartmentalize areas of our life. Church in this part, school in this part, marriage in this part,…

Amen to that.   It's also of interes that those who had, for example, only nine lambs or calves born in a year, they were not required to hand over anything.   One thing I will say is that I thoroughly appreciate the OT system of…

You're so right, Darrell!  Many of the house churches I'm familiar with are not organic expressions of church but are really just institutional church in miniature.  As Frank Viola says, organic church (OC) is one of the most…

Michael Hartson commented on Jim London's blog post 'What do we do when there is no group to join?'
When I think about the most significant points in my Christian walk, they did not take place in an organized, institutionalized environment.  It was incidental to my world, but wholly intentional by God.

Michael Hartson replied to Michael Hartson's discussion 'Why Can't Christian's Hang Out?'
Sure, it's intentional.  God is responsible for the Results, we are responsible for the action.  God asks us to share our lives, talk to others about him, love others.  Who gets saved, or what a person does or does not do or what…
