Passover is a continuous theme in the Bible. It is through Passover that God rescues man.

1.) In the First Passover God rescues the Children of Israel. The descendants of Abraham through whom the entire earth will be blessed have fallen on hard times and would have disappeared entirely if God dose not rescue them. After a series of plagues Moses announces that all the firstborn will die unless protected by the blood of the lamb on the door posts. Exodus 12.The blood is spread and Israel is saved from the Angel of death which the Egyptians suffer.

2.) The second Passover in the Bible occurs in Numbers 9:1-5 on the one year anniversary of the first Passover. Provision is here mentioned for the taking of Passover should a person be ritually unclean or on a trip.

3.) The third Passover takes place as the Children of Israel end their forty year trek and diet of mania and enter the land they had been promised.

4.) The days of the Judges is mentioned as a time when Passover was kept.

5.) Passover is mentioned during the Kingship of King Solomon in 2 Chron 8:13.

6.) King Hezekiah celebrates Passover 2 Chronicles 30:15.

7.)But it is King Josieah who in 2 Kings 22:21-23 restores the celebration of Passover

8.) In Ezra 6:19-22 The Jews returned from Babylon celebrate Passover and the days of unleavened bread. This is followed by a period of 450 years during which the Passover is kept at the Temple in Jerusalem

9.) Then in a fulfillment of the first Passover Jesus is the Lamb of God as John the Baptist points out when he first sees him in John 1:29. In Revelation in the vision of the throne, the lamb is praised as worthy to open the scroll of human destiny, "for thou wast slain and by thy blood did ransom men for God from every tribe and tongue and people and nation" (Rev 5:9) This recalls the lamb slain to bring the Israelites out of Egypt.

10.) In Rev 16:2-21 the angels pour out God's wrath in imagery that depicts the epic struggle with Egypt in which the enemies of God were scourged with hail, fire, darkness, locust, ulcers, bloody waters, and frogs. This leads up to the singing the song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb (15:3) as God's people are on the banks of the sea of glass which might represent the Red Sea experience of the redeemed.

So when you do look up at the full moon on the night of Passover I hope you will think of this continuous theme in the Bible and remember God's plan to rescue his people.

Hello Rod, are you still in the Reston area? My wife and I just moved from Texas and are wanting to meet up with the Organic Church in this area.

Michael, my experiences with such groups for more than 20 years now is pretty much the same. Some of them broke up over childish things, such as fleshly disputes, others because they wanted that "religious fix" like spiritual junkies…

Malcolm, I agree with Elaine that this succinct presentation is very helpful. Thank you. The one matter of baptism(s) has been an issue that has occasioned the setting of God's children against one another for almost 2000 years, with such…

The Unseen War by David Kortje

A few weeks back I shared a book review with all of you as I felt it was worthy of your reading. This week I find myself doing the same thing again. You are probably wondering if I have suddenly become a “book reviewer” which of course is not the case at all. In fact quite the contrary. The thing is that for the first time in a very long time I have picked up two books that have really impressed something new in my heart. Not necessarily because the topic was new but more so because of the way…See More

Great story, Michael -- and a good analogy. Two options: contriving a sense of safety/ control or trusting the God who reveals. One is an illusion; the other is life.

I know I'm responding to myself, but I had idea. I like stories; sometimes they teach us about ourselves.  A couple of weeks ago I needed some engine work done on an old Chevy.  Tired of paying a mechanic…

I like reading both sides of the issue, and then reading for myself what is written in the Bible. Some thieves have PhD's, and some don't.
