Hi Anna, the focus of Organic Church is getting back to the Bible instead of tradition. This is the first big hurdle to overcome and one that for some can take a little time to identify because of what you may have been taught by people saying it is in the Bible.

For me the key is going to the Word of God and looking out, rather than taking an idea I have heard and trying to get scripture to back it up. Many use cut and paste between scriptures taking them out of context to say what they are trying to say. So it may sound confusing but the Bible says the Holy Spirit will be our teacher and I encourage you to pray as you seek to live for the Lord.
Recommended reading: Author Frank Viola is a respected authority in helping the non- theologian understand “Pagan Christianity” and “Reimagining Church” are very helpful. And I did a radio show with Frank which you can listen to on the home page as a help for those seeking to follow Jesus in an Organic way.

My goal is not that people panic thinking that the gospel is too complicated for the average family. I have noticed that some can get into a panic on this but my encouragement is not for us to all become Bible scholars or even legalistic but relational.
So here at OCT the focus will be to provide balance with both a mixture of those who can teach and those who just love the Lord and want to serve him and get some questions answered and meet other like minded people.
I encourage the simple faith remembering that the Bible says in 1John 5 God has given us eternal life and this life is in the Son he who has the Son has life he who does not have the Son does not have eternal life. (Paraphrase mine)

Getting to know other members here at OCT is also a great help because we can ask questions in the forum and many members will be blessed to provide input. So you have found the right website to find out more about living an Organic Church Life.
