Isaiah 32 Part 4

Posted on May 4, 2009 at 6:00pm 5 Comments

I was re-reading the journal entries on Isaiah 32, and a picture came to my mind:

(( I get a picture of the interior of a concrete cistern (a holding tank for rainwater used in lieu of a well). In my mind's eye, I see the last few inches of water flowing out through a little hole where the poured floor meets the poured wall. After this, I sense (not "see") more about the cistern: Some of the upper edges of the walls have broken away, making the man-made structure look organic and… Continue

Isaiah 32 Part 3

Posted on May 3, 2009 at 6:00pm 0 Comments

Please read parts 1 & 2 first. This post concerns the remainder of Isaiah 32, starting with verse 15.

This amazes me, Lord (what I've just read from Isaiah) Please tell me more.

v. 15 Until the Spirit from Heaven is poured out on us.

Then the desert will become an orchard. Unfruitful places--outsider places--will become blessed and lavishly fruitful.

"Our love is like an orchard. Wherever you gather to seek after Me because of your extreme desire shall… Continue

Isaiah 32 Part 2

Posted on May 2, 2009 at 2:30pm 0 Comments

If you haven't read part one, you should do it (it's short). Without my notes there, the following may be confusing. So, you've read it--so look up Isaiah 32, because I'm not going to write it all down here (it's long--well, longer than my post). This study/meditation/prophecy starts with verse 6.

Fools do the following:

. . . Plot inequity

. . . Speak foolishly

. . . Live godlessly

. . . Speak falsely about the Lord

. . . Leave the hungry empty

. . .… Continue

Isaiah 32 Part 1

Posted on May 2, 2009 at 12:00am 0 Comments

God sometimes gives me scripture references "out of the blue," and when I look them up, I'm amazed to find they're so relevant to me. The first one he gave me as I meditated a week or so ago was 2 Tim 3:16. All scripture is profitable for doctrine, etc. (I should probably have this verse and its reference memorized, but references don't stick in my head at all.) When I read Is 32, I realized the first reference was intended to recommend the second one to me, as Isaiah 32 didn't seem to speak to… Continue

The Onslaught of the Bright

Here we stand and the edge

of the end of all the ages.

This is the moment the world

has for eons trembled for.

This is the final gathering in;

the restoring of the Kingdom;

a time for bards to sing of,

for legends shall be written

once again upon the pages

of the annals of the ages

as the sons of God arise.

Let Him take your hand…

Michael, my experiences with such groups for more than 20 years now is pretty much the same. Some of them broke up over childish things, such as fleshly disputes, others because they wanted that "religious fix" like spiritual junkies…

Malcolm, I agree with Elaine that this succinct presentation is very helpful. Thank you. The one matter of baptism(s) has been an issue that has occasioned the setting of God's children against one another for almost 2000 years, with such…

The Unseen War by David Kortje

A few weeks back I shared a book review with all of you as I felt it was worthy of your reading. This week I find myself doing the same thing again. You are probably wondering if I have suddenly become a “book reviewer” which of course is not the case at all. In fact quite the contrary. The thing is that for the first time in a very long time I have picked up two books that have really impressed something new in my heart. Not necessarily because the topic was new but more so because of the way…See More

Great story, Michael -- and a good analogy. Two options: contriving a sense of safety/ control or trusting the God who reveals. One is an illusion; the other is life.

I know I'm responding to myself, but I had idea. I like stories; sometimes they teach us about ourselves.  A couple of weeks ago I needed some engine work done on an old Chevy.  Tired of paying a mechanic…

I like reading both sides of the issue, and then reading for myself what is written in the Bible. Some thieves have PhD's, and some don't.
