Hello brother George; I remember back when I was either a freshman or junior in high school that the thought came to me just like it happened today, "there has to be more than this." I had no clue what that meant to me at the time, I was…

A Dear John Letter

Dear John,I was so heartened recently to receive a letter from a dear brother admitting his emptiness and lack for awareness of the risen Lord. I think his admission that ‘church and ‘religion’ just aren’t satisfying signals the beginning of a great turning point in his life! I am thankful that the Spirit himself leads us to a realization of our spiritual bankruptcy. I remember many years ago crying out to the Lord and telling Him how empty I was and how desperately I wanted Him to be real to…See More

I THINK MORE THAN A "NEW REFORMATION" WHAT IS OCCURING IS PERHAPS A NEW "RESTORTION". i DO NOT THINK THAT REFORM OF THE SYSTEM IS WHAT WE ARE REALLY SEEING BUT A MASS EXODUS BY THOSE SEEKING TO DISCOVER WHAT MANY ARE CALLING…

Having read about half-way through, I believe this to be one of the more helpful books on simple church/organic church I've come across. Lots of practical advice, which I honestly haven't seen elsewhere. Let's talk about it.

Cindy, What I think is tht we often miss the point that they are gifts...and not Kingdom entitlements or necessities. gifts are subject to the giver! These are not things we must have but gifts that Christ...We don't NEED a teacher (as we have…

It is very liberating to think of our Lord having a sader with his brethren and as they went through the prescribed ritualistic jewish seder He broke the unleavened bread (which had to be striped and pierced) and said "From now on you do this…

If the body b could only learn to be subject to the head (not the head pastor or the "head man") everything would flow so freely. It is not just us "using" or exercising our gifts 9as though they belong to us) but our being…

Boy Do i have Good news for You. Our modern day gospel!

There's a lot of confusion about the Gospel these days. For the last week or so (yeah I know know you're not supposed to begin a sentence with a preposition), I have been seriously exploring the subject of "What is the gospel that is the power of God unto salvation." I was intending to blog on this subject. I'm sure I will - sooner or later. However, in the process of looking for the good news, I found myself pondering all the other gospels that have been and are being marketd in our world. It…See More

Upon This Rock - Part. 1

I believe that within modern Christianity we have a serious problem. Because of the emphasis being placed on "the church” rather than on Christ, there are many people who have been converted to the church or institution, to a worship style, a set of precepts or doctrines, to a theological system, a denomination or to a movement rather than to Jesus Christ. I was one of these for many years. Born and raised in 'the church' I was institutionalized, but not… Continue

Michael, I certainly understand what you're saying. Very few ministers ever speak the TRUTH about the tithe. In OT times, the tithe was the inheritance of the Levites who were not allowed to make a living by any means as was common among the…

Michael Hartson commented on Jim London's blog post 'What do we do when there is no group to join?'
When I think about the most significant points in my Christian walk, they did not take place in an organized, institutionalized environment.  It was incidental to my world, but wholly intentional by God.

Michael Hartson replied to Michael Hartson's discussion 'Why Can't Christian's Hang Out?'
Sure, it's intentional.  God is responsible for the Results, we are responsible for the action.  God asks us to share our lives, talk to others about him, love others.  Who gets saved, or what a person does or does not do or what…
