Jim London said… Kellie, thank you for sharing your dilemma with us. I'd like to offer some thoughts to you and your husband:
1) Please don't allow yourselves to feel shame about having made a vocational decision and then finding that it's not for you. Rather, if you have certainty that you're in the wrong place, let this be a time, not so much for hiding, but for seeking God more fully for Himself. Often when we're in a tough spot, our strongest impulse is to beg for remedy. Let God have pre-eminence these days. Yearn for Him. Discover what He wants of your heart, rather than only what you want of Him. Sister (and hubby), if panic is the mode you embrace, then the voice of panic will obscure the voice of God and you might find yourselves in a place no better, and perhaps worse, than you are in now.
2) Continue to love the people in your life, even to grow in your love for them -- yes the people in your fellowship. They aren't the problem, and they are the beloved of God. Stay with Him in His love for them. You don't need to retreat. Embrace. They are God's people no matter what the format of the community life!
3) Seek some reasonably mature partners who will walk with you in seeking God with you, not just to give you 20 minutes of advice. The evil one will seek to exploit your vulnerability and isolation. Try to find some who know God and ask for commitment from them for this season. This is the time to discover the treasures of being in "one-another" relationships!
Blessings upon you. This is but a chapter in your young lives.
