My husband & I are big on seeing house church become an accepted & viable way of life for everyone. Church is not meant to be a separate entity but a part of everyday life. WE are the church. Church is not a building. If you are on here, you probably already get it, so I won't go into all the details. I will just tell you about our group & what we are doing.
We are group led. There is no specific person in charge. We meet once a week for a formal gathering & throughout the week at an informal basis. We try to be as community-oriented as possible. Our church is our community. We try to integrate our lives together.
One night a week we meet together (about 18 of us). We have a month rotation of four themes.
EAT. THINK.PRAY.LOVE. Every night is led by someone different. We plan a few months ahead at a "think tank" night once every few months. ANYONE interested in contributing attends that organizational meeting. It is not only a time to plan out the nights ahead, but discuss any changes needed or bring up anything God has been leading us to do specifically... etc.
EAT nights are where we break out into smaller groups for discussions, prayer & building friendships.
THINK nights are where we all gather to learn something new, study the scriptures, hear a message, have a guest speaker, etc.
PRAY nights we gather for worship//prayer in different creative forms.
LOVE nights are focused on local or international outreach or awareness
Everyone needs a place to share their thoughts & use their giftings. God is not shown just through one head pastor, but every member of the community. Every believer is a leader. We need to creatively seek how to love our neighbors & each other through new formats. It has been wonderful to see people open up to a relaxed HC format. The greatest thing I see if that HC is flexible, moldable and mobile. It is not about staff budgets, teams, hierarchy or money.

There are many HC's in Denver. This is the blog of the one I am in community with.
