God became a man and lived among us little people. The Ultimate, "Undercover Boss.!"
Much like, CEOs can't understand what its like for the "little people" who work for them, God needed to live among us as a common man in order to fully understand us. In the person of Jesus Christ He did live among us and He does understand us.
God is not a distant, greedy boss. He knows what its like to be human. to suffer pain, weakness, temptation, loss, you name it.

There is something very powerful, substantive, and real about people coming together because of a common belief/relationship in Jesus Christ. Jesus said. (my paraphrase)
" They will know you are my disciples by your love for one another."
and
" The world will believe in Me if you are united in Me."
Not united in theology, religion, denomination, creed, or code. But united in the person of Jesus Christ.

It has been around a year and a half since my family and I set out on this journey out of the "institutional church" in search of an "organic expression" of church.
My wife and I started out excited about the new adventure we were undertaking. Unfortunately that excitement has waned after many failed attempts to connect with others and or be involved with others around here. I don't really miss " going to church." I miss being connected to others in a spiritual, Christ centered

Coming out of the Traditional Church into the Simple Church mode has not been an easy transition for us, yet it had a certain appeal that allows the Holy Ghost to be really made manifest to us in ways we've not experienced before. With the leadership role becoming bottom up rather than top down can be rather intimidating to someone who has led the church for more years than many of us wish to admit. It has been an eye opening experience. I wouldn't change it for the world. What I am feeling i

The Saturday evening pot-luck meal and Bible study schedule for this spring semester mentioned in my last post is going to begin tonight. We are looking forward to having friends and new friends into our home for a time of relationship building, good food, Bible study, and discussion of the Word.
We are praying that these Saturday evenings together will be used of the Lord to draw people to faith in Christ and into Christian community.
It is also my prayer that as we see people accept Christ a…

“Verily verily I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I AM.” The Pharisees said: “Wait a minute!” They knew what he was saying. “You being a man make yourself God and we’re going to stone you!” “Oh?” he said, “For what good works?” But Jesus wasn’t guilty of being a man who made himself God. He was God who made himself man.

This evening we begin our spring semester of international student Bible studies at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas.
The Bible studies, using a simplified English language version of the Bible, provide the students the opportunity to practice their English reading, speaking, listening, and comprehension skills. During the course of the reading and discussion time we also discuss grammar, word pronunciation, and various parts of speech as…

The woman with the issue of blood made her way through the crowd. She thought that if she could just touch Jesus, she would be healed. When she got close enough, she reached out to touch him with the intention of getting something from him. When Jesus stopped to inquire as to who had touched him, his followers thought he was being unreasonable because of the crowd of people who were bumping and jostling him. But Jesus said, “virtue went out from me.” Some of us accidentally bump into God at chur…

(John 3:16) God loved the world so much that He gave His only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him would not perish but have everlasting life.
God's motive was love. His plan for solving the trouble that ills us (sin) was Jesus' death on the cross, that was the part we simply could not do for ourselves.
(Ephesians 2:8,9) for by grace are you saved through faith; not of yourselves, it is the gift of God: not by works, so that no man can boast.
Faith (Gr pistis), trusting in the faithfulne…

Yesterday, Christianity Today published my response to Mark Galli’s article Long Live Organic Church. For those of you who have been following the dialogue, this article is where I fall out on it. It can also be read as a stand-alone piece. There’s a PDF link at the bottom should you want to pass it along to others.
I hope it clears some of the fog that surrounds this issue.
Why the Organic Church Is Not Exactly a Movement
If the driving force of any movement or phenomenon is not Jesus Christ…

The important thing that ought to come from our mouths is what God is saying. Those who are mature do not need to be afraid of 'cherry picking' we simply need to pay attention to how we use the word of God. Personally the Lord has put it on my heart not to get stuck in the same rut the Calvary Chapels are in. They are dogmatic about spending seven year cycles going through the entire Bible. In reality a little basic sound doctrine and the people can study the Bible for themselves. An individual…

Confusion over the term “organic church” continues.
As I’ve pointed out numerous times in the recent past, I’ve been using the term “organic church” since 1993. In my book “Reimagining Church,” I point out that T. Austin-Sparks is the man who deserves credit for coining this term. Austin-Sparks ministered in the 1920s until his passing in 1971.
When I began using the term “organic church” some 16 years ago, very few people were using it. (The exception would be those who were familiar with the…

Nearly 200 people from more than 37 nations met in New Delhi, India in November to discuss, report on, and pray about what the Lord is doing around the world to reach a lost humanity for Himself through house churches and house church networks.
The Summit’s Steering Group has produced a 14-page summary report of the meeting that I think you will enjoy reading if you are interested in organic, simple churches and house church movements.
The report includes: 1) Notes on keynote sessions that add…

Observations and Ponderings For 2010
By Robert Ricciardelli
www.vision2advance.com
I love to ponder the possibilities and creative ways we can please God and serve others. I love to reflect on how things are, and “what if” we changed them. How can we further align ourselves toward His Most Excellent Ways. We only know in part, so it is always good to check what we think that we know often.
These are observations and ponderings can be…

As for those of us who have slipped out from the illusions that many “religious Institutions” trap people with, let it be in a manner of love. We must at all time guard against pride that we have arrived and they are all wrong.
As well we must at all times contend for the Faith – remembering that the freedom that we have found in our fellowships are for the purposes of Gods glory and regardless of our own desires we must always strive for His will to be set forth with authority even as the apos…

"Give unto the Lord the glory due unto His name; worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness" (Psalm 29:2).
When King David transported the Ark of the Covenant to Jerusalem he delivered a special psalm into the hands of Asaph and the other musicians. In it he exalted the Lord: "Give unto the Lord the glory due unto His name: bring an offering, and come before Him: worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness" (I Chronicles 16:29).
Psalm 96:6 discusses this beauty: "Honor and majesty are before Hi…

Christ-followers and New Testament, Bible-believing churches in the United States and other Western countries have a tremendous opportunity to fulfill the Great Commission to disciple the “nations.” How? By ministering to the international students that the Lord has brought to our universities and colleges to pursue their degrees and research.
The number of students who are here, that we have the opportunity to befriend, serve and share Christ with is amazing.
The Institute of International Ed…
