Organic Church Today

A fellow stopped to listen while I was playing guitar out in the yard by myself the other day.
It was sunny and perfect out.
He was soon singing along and even dancing, as I played some choruses and old love songs.
People passing by on the road must have thought us strange.
"...Wherever two or more are gathered, in My name, there am I in their midst..." came to mind.
I was challenged: "Would you be prepared to let this be as large a group to ever play for again?"
I can truthfully answer: "Yes Lord"

Playing for the One you Love will always be your high calling. I know of a musician/minister who turned to the wall and played instead of toward the "group" in order to get his focus correct. You have chosen the high road.
Thank you, Nathan, for writing this.

Hey Nathan, what an awesome testimony. I think all that is really wrong with Jim is that he is like a child, and that isn't wrong at all according to God. Can we learn from people that aren't as clever or wise or strong as us? Well, God certainly thinks so. Out of the mouth of babes...
I wonder if we can be so focused and consumed with our relationship with God as Jim. Thank you for sharing Nathan, it is a wonderful testimony.

The fellow who chanced by was someone I know. He goes to the IC I used to attend. His name is Jim, and he lives uptown. Jim works at the flag pole factory up the road from my house. He is 'mentally challenged' somehow, and somewhat simple in the mind. If you want to know where to find a scripture however, just ask Jim. He loves the Word, is single, and kind of in his own world in a lot of ways. I have also heard wisdom coming from him that escapes others many times.
Music touches his soul in a special way. He left our home in such high spirits from such a simple, unplanned and 'unorganized' fellowship, that it struck me how much we miss what a gathering really is.
When are we going to get a true grasp on this? For me it is a new trip in life, but exciting.
While attending IC I always thought of little get-togethers as nice, but not really productive. A great meeting at the church with a special guest speaker and playing a great 'worship set', now THAT was doing it. That was a 'Spiritual' happening. How wrong i have been, and how gently Ruach ha Quodesh (Holy Spirit) is pointing this out to me now.
