We read in Leviticus 23 about one of the most little known or much thought about of the Spring Feasts of the Lord:9 And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, 10 ?Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them: ?When you come into the land which I give to you, and reap its harvest, then you shall bring a sheaf of the first fruits of your harvest to the priest. 11 He shall wave the sheaf before the LORD, to be accepted on your behalf; on the day after the Sabbath the priest shall wave it. .....14 You shall eat neither bread nor parched grain nor fresh grain until the same day that you have brought an offering to your God; it shall be a statute forever throughout your generations in all your dwellings.
In a beautiful meshing of the old and new testament in the year of Christ's death both the weekly Sabbath and Annual first day of Unleavened bread which was also a Sabbath fell on the first day of the week. In the twentieth chapter of John we are told that Mary came and found the tomb empty. She then gets a number of disciples and they also conclude the Lord is gone. They do not yet know that he has arisen but just his body is gone. Mary is very sad and is standing around crying. Jesus sees her and asks her, ?...., why are you weeping? Whom are you seeking??
She, that He is the gardener, said to Him, Sir, if You have carried Him away, tell me where You have laid Him, and I will take Him away.? Passably Jesus is dressed differently then he usually was and has pierced palms and wounds and is unfamiliar. Even to someone who had formerly seen him daily. Some say that injured soldiers were given jobs like gardener for cemeteries as a kind of retirement for injured soldiers.
16 Jesus said to her, ?Mary!?
She turned and said to Him,[a] ?Rabboni!? (which is to say, Teacher). And then she knew! But then Jesus says maybe a curious thing to her
17 ..., ?Do not cling to Me, for I have not yet ascended to My Father; but go to My brethren and say to them, ?I am ascending to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God.?? Jesus is the fufilament of the waveshief offering. He was going up like the Priest waved the shief up and down, be presented to the Father, and come back down for a while. as a witness.
There is much about the wave shief we don't know as we are not there at the throne when Christ is reunited with the father after his fleshly life and death on the cross. But we can imagine it must of been a joyous occosion.
There many see him reserected. Hundreds of people see him reserected. This is one of the great proofs of Jesus reserection. It's impossable to fake reserection of the dead, have hundreds of people see you AND have a document, the new Testament if in fact there were not really witnesses of the reserection as there were in the first century with many people learning first and second hand. If the New Testament just apeared without the coroberation of without the coroberation of many first hand second hand and thire hand wittnesses there would not be much interest in it and it would of been in the dust heap of history.
Other scriptures dealing with the wave shief are are: Jn. 20:17; Matt. 28:9; I Cor. 15:20, 23; Rom. 8:29; Col. 1:15, 18
